SHARK TAGGING

GB custom rods has one philosophy when it comes to shark fishing. That is to tag and release all Sharks caught. Proper tackle and fishing procedures can insure a healthy Shark ready to go back into the wild How can this situation get better for the Shark and the Angler? Simple . TAG THE SHARK, collect data, and mail in the info to NOAA.

Sound like fun and want to get into the Shark tagging game? Easy as visiting: www.nefsc.noaa.gov

This is the webpage for the NOAA apex Predator program. In a very brief overview of the program is this:

1. Request Tags thru email at [email protected]
2. Get tags in mail, as well as a huge amount of info about sharks
3. GO Shark fishing ( follow NOAA guide lines, hooks etc.. )
4. Tag and release a Shark, Follow NOAA guides and record data
5. Send in data card to NOAA ( prepaid stamp )

That’s it. Now you will have added to the NOAA data base of tagged Sharks. If The Shark you tagged is recaptured you will be notified and you can check out the stats.

I started tagging Sharks a few summers ago and I will continue to for as long that I am fishing . How do you tag a Shark? You build a Tagging Stick. This can be accomplished by a simple broomstick and a clamp. The actual tagging dart head is sent to you from NOAA. GB Custom feels that this tagging program is so beneficial to Sharks and Anglers, that GB is willing to make your tagging stick for COST.

Any customer who signs up to be a member of the NOAA apex predator program and sends me their dart, I will make a custom tagging stick to put it on.

All the customer pays for is cost of parts and shipping. ( $75 approx. )

Thanks for releasing all Sharks Tagged.
